(SAM intro) Resource sets

After you update your existing groups to new resource sets and groups, here is what we recommend you do.

If you're unsure how to update your groups, see this guide for help.

A separate guide for managing your new groups can be found here.

Resource sets are collections of data like logins, payment cards and secure notes.

How it previously worked How to use it now
Logins, payment cards and secure notes can be grouped together under one name (called a group). Logins, payment cards and secure notes can be grouped together under one name (called a resource set).
Employees are added as members, and can access all data with the same permissions.

It's not possible to be a member of a resource set. Instead, employees can be added to groups and assigned access to resource sets.

Each group can have their own permissions, and access the same data with different rights.

Rename the resource sets

Your old groups have now been split into two, a resource set and a group. After migration, the same name is used for both the resource set and the group, but they each serve a different purpose.

We recommend renaming the resource set to "[group name] resources" or something similar, so it's easy to differentiate between the group and resources.

In the Uniqkey admin portal, go to Directory and Access -> Resource set -> click the resource set name.

Find the 3 dots at the far right side of the screen -> Edit details -> give the resource set a name that helps you differentiate between this and the group you migrated as well.

Save the new name.

Manage access to the resource set

Your previous group members still have access to the resources with the same permissions as before. If you want all members to have the same access, you don't need to do anything else.

You can manage permissions for a group by clicking the number of current permissions.
